 HISTORIC HALL
Known for its perfect acoustics, The Sheldon was designed by noted St. Louis World’s Fair architect Louis Spiering and opened its doors in 1912 as the Ethical Society of St. Louis. Some of the world’s greatest musicians, including Jose Carreras, Wynton Marsalis, Willie Nelson, k.d. lang, Renee Fleming, Tony Bennett, Joan Baez and Diana Krall, have performed in the intimate 700-seat hall.

QUALITY VISUAL ARTS
In 1998, The Sheldon added the 6,000 square foot Sheldon Art Galleries and an outdoor sculpture garden. The galleries contain seven separate spaces devoted to rotating exhibits of St. Louis artists, photography, architecture, jazz history, emerging artists and children’s art.

We are a not-for-profit organization. We have had previous internship experience referred from ? Saint Louis University, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Webster University, Fontbonne University, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, and St. Louis University – Madrid (Spain).

Description:MARKETING/PUBLICITY

Interns will gain experience in marketing, public relations, concert promotion, development, advertising, and box office management.

Duties include writing and coordinating press releases, helping to maintain MySpace, Facebook, and other social networking site pages, marketing research, graphic design, maintaining clip reports, coordinating PR and publicity materials, maintaining electronic photo files, assisting at box office during selected concerts, and various administrative duties.

INTERNSHIPS AT THE SHELDON ART GALLERIES

Interns assist the director in all facets of exhibition production, including: exhibition research, installation of exhibitions, working as gallery attendant, letter writing and other clerical duties, educational outreach, education packets for exhibitions, organizing children's educational workshops, and assisting with opening receptions.

College-level applicants (junior or senior preferred, but including graduate students) majoring in communications, business, art, music, or related field preferred. 10 hours per week minimum required. These positions are unpaid, but college credit may be available – applicant should check with academic institution. A car is not required as we are near public transportation. Mileage/passes are not reimbursed. Housing is not available.
